How schools react to students with high test scores, relatively low GPA?
Taking into account some other details, What are some general rules? My school is in the top 100 in the nation, and my results of the SAT and ACT are high [34 years old when I took it as a sophomore, a percentage of 97 on the PSAT pending] SAT score, but my average is relatively low [3.3 unweighted, 4.3] weighted. Is it worth worth taking summer classes would lower and raise the GPA unweighted one?
It sounds a lot like me. I went to a very competitive public high school in a city opulent, where the farewell address had an average of 4.8. My GPA was only about a 3.9 unweighted, probably around 3.3. I have a 35 on the ACT and was a Merit National Scholar. I only applied to four schools because I knew where I wanted to go. I was accepted to business school at Indiana Universitys (where they now attend) and University New York, rejected from Harvard and Stanford. It really just depends on what your standards are. Most universities will be greatly on your situation because it has scores higher on tests and GPA, despite their lower unweighted, is still high and shows you challenge yourself.
