How are these SAT scores?

My friend is a sophomore and she just took a practice test for the SAT online Princeton Review. She told me she has a 530 in math, to 570 in critcal reading, 490 in writing and 55 in the grammar. I have not taken the SAT and do not know much I heard about them but a 800 is like a 100 on a regular test and so these results seem very low? I do not know. How do these results. And then she told me did not grade your test, but is usually from 1-6? Would someone please help me interpret these grades for her?

First things first – do not compare to the SAT normal levels – you will never understand the SAT grading system if you try to do it this way. here's the scoop: The new SAT has three sections: critical reading, math and writing the highest degree possible in each of these sections is 800 – that if this is achieved in each section will be given a maximum score 2400. SAT grades things by adding one point to a "bonus" score for each question you get correct, subtracting 0.25 points for a wrong answer every time you get, and add and subtract any points for every question you skipped. This raw score is then converted to a scale that tells you the 800 that possibly scored. However, the SAT bases their rankings on the other people in your area as marked. to convert the raw score, get a ladder, and then on the basis of how others in the area score, you will receive a degree within that range. this pretty much means that if you come from an area where education is limited, you can get a higher rating than someone who had the same exact number of raw points as it did a really privileged area. Most universities only care about math and reading critical areas, because I really do not know what to do with the writing section yet. section Writing is a series of multiple choice grammar questions and an essay written in 25 minutes I think. The test is scored by two persons and each person gives a degree of 1-6. these results are combined to draw a number of 12. if two people dissagree more than a number (one gives a 3 and the other gives 5), a third scorer is used to help solve this problem. this test is combined with the raw score of grammar to equal a degree in writing the section total. critical reading and mathematics are quite self-explanatory, and are strictly multiple choice questions. Therefore, his friend was very good at all for practice test Soph for the first time, not spectacular, but very well (especially reading). the SAT, as I said before, can not be compared to regular tests – 75% in the SAT is a 600 per section, which meets the requirements for schools like American University, Boston University, and many schools. I'm sure will be improved and completed with a degree very nice when she is a junior / senior. their scores at this time (only math and reading are good enough for schools like the University Syracuse, George Mason, Fordham, James Madison – almost any public school (except for some schools in California and the University of California at San Diego, UCLA and schools in New York – as the University of Binghamton or Geneseo) good luck!
