Check manipulation?

Hello, I have a mission I am asked to analyze a handling control of one of the IVs in a factorial design PSYC social experiment. Control is a Likert scale, asking participants to rate the risk of construction related to the IV (for eg sadness). There are three levels of the IV and verification is requested to all participants at all three levels (ie, any of them are in), for example. Rate of how likely it is the (hypothetical) hero feels (eg, unhappy) in this situation. To test this manipulation, I can simply run analysis of variance and follow-up tests on each of the three levels of the IV and see if there are differences among the sig means one or other of them. And if they are – suggest that the manipulation was a success? Can anyone help?

I'm taking that has three groups, each exposed to a different status from the IV and each person responds in the 3 groups to the question about the construction by the Likert scale? Sure, just run a hocs analysis of variance and subsequent comparison of the average of the DV for each group. If there is a significant difference then this means that the change in IV is related to the change in the DV. LOL
