Analyzing data from Likert scale?
I designed and ran an experiment in which I was looking at the effect of color on sweetness. I had 2 conditions: 1 where we had 5 cups of liquid all the sweetness itself, but each different color. Each colored substance was evaluated in a 5-point scale (not sweet something sweet-mod. Dulce-sweet very sweet). I had 9 tracks under these conditions. 2nd condition was exactly the same set, with the exception of a different color each cup had a label attached the same (eg had red "fruit punch, green had" tropical punch ") etc. This was to see the effect of labeling on sweetness. I have no idea of how to analyze the data. My teacher said Chi square is appropriate, but do not know what test to use. I thought about using the Friedman test, but do not know how correct when different colors are given equal status. Please help!
