How to interpret an IQ score?
I have taken several IQ tests in recent years and have always marked "highly" but I never really took seriously the results as well as from the Internet. Last week I made a real IQ test and I have an IQ of 162, I realize that the coefficient intellectual is not an absolute measure of intelligence, but what it means and how to interpret a score like that? I scored 162 on an IQ test, which was NO online. It was a Wechsler IQ test … if that makes a difference, and yes it was a test for adults.
Assuming the entire test took Weschler, who has an average of 100 and standard deviation of 15. Therefore, a score of 162 is very high compared to average (approximately 99% of the people within score two standard deviations, and that between 70 and 130). Having said that, as in most IQ tests do not distinguish well at either end of the scale. There is certainly a point where they are smart (or have practiced) to be able to make a standard IQ test with relative ease, so its hard to tell the difference between people at or above this level. (Similarly, some people of different reasons, simply can not do IQ tests, for example, in terms of language and difficulties understanding and therefore are not really useful in considering the overall capacity in these cases). Evidence / supplements out there that is geared more to people at this level (Stanford-Binet Form LM comes to mind, but I think that is mostly used with children). As to what tells you about yourself, I doubt not tell you much know already. The scores of individual subscales may be more informative about their strengths.
