Dog and cat help?!?!?
I have 3 cats and one dog. My dog gets along very well with two of the cats very well, since they accepted him. My third cat ran the second we brought him home and now he has CHASE stuck in his head. She is scare of him beyond belief and once scaled the cement wall in the basement and ripped out 2 of her nails which resulted in a 3am trip to the emergncy vet clinic. Do you have any suggestions on how to stop him from chasing her? Thanks
You’re going to have to retrain the dog to learn that chasing cats is unacceptable behavior. While you are “retraining” your dog to leave the cat alone, you are going to have to keep the dog on a leash at all times.
Every time the dog tries to “chase” the cat, sharply tug on the leash and firmly tell the dog “No!” and then: “Stay!” Reward the dog for good behavior with a treat and/or lots of pats and a “Good boy.” or “Good dog.”
