How To Scale Crappie

By admin

Need information on how to prepare Rainbow Tout for eating.?

I have very good luck catching Rainbow Trout, but that is where my knowledge of them ends. Can someone explain “in detail” how to clean them, and how to cook them. I have always fillet all the fish I’ve ever caught all my life (bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish). But I tried to fillet trout, and found that they have so many more bones in them, than these other fish, that it was next to impossible to fillet them. I just ended up with a hacked up mess. I’ve seen where people have cooked them whole, just scale them and gut them. If they are cooked in this manner, can the meat just be lifted off the bones with a fork, without much danger of accidently swallowing a fish bone? Any “detailed” instructions that can be given to me, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

You don’t “detail” just clean the guts out by cutting along the bottom of the fish.

I like to broil the fish. Season to taste and enjoy! I like white rice with my trout.
