Autocad to InDesign }:o(……?
I’ve created a few plans in Auto cad 2009. I need to export them so that I can use them in InDesign. I’m getting a bit aggravated as there must be some way of doing this. I’ve exported the drawings as TIFF but InDesign won’t import it. The help section doesn’t seem to explain how to do this. Also, I would like to export them at the scale 1:50. Does anyone know how to do this before I throw my laptop out the window and fail my course???
I managed to do it but i don’t know if it’s the right scale. I exported it to TIF format. I couldn’t get it into indesign for some reason so I dragged the file into photoshop and than into indesign. Don’t know why it worked this way. it’s going to be a long night! thanks to everyone for leaving a comment.
oh ya dave s, by the time i finish this damn course i will be grey and old, this may be why there are no fit women in your office because it takes a lifetime to get qualified, lol! x
There is going to be one problem you may encounter when you export as a Tiff and open in photoshop first and that will be that your CAD vector file will be converted to a Raster image as photoshop is not a vector based program like the likes of Indesign and Illustrator (Illustrator is my most hated program, looks like photoshop but is determined in making your life a living hell the night before your assignment is due as which is usually the case in my world 
)
So while your image may open in photoshop it is going to get rid of those nice clean vector lines and give you somthing a little less clean and crisp. So just be careful and test print first before spending a small fortune on a a1 colour poster.
I am having the very same problem though! I have alos tried to convert to PDF and then import with NO LUCK.
I know what you mean with it making you wana throw ya laptop agains the wall and I am only in my 2nd year of my 5 year masters in architecture… so lucky me
