Gre Test Score Range

By admin

What are my chances of getting into grad school?

I recently applied to a range of graduate schools for English, most of them for the PhD program. I’m graduating in May with a 3.93 GPA. My GRE scores were 700 in Verbal, 720 in Math, and 5.5 in writing. I got a 580 in the GRE subject test. I’m graduating from a good private school with a BA in English and certification in secondary Education.

However, I heard back from my first grad school and I got rejected (it was Northeastern). I’m really worried I won’t get in anywhere now, and probably don’t have a shot at the Ivy Leagues that I applied to. If anyone has any experience to share, I would appreciate it. I don’t really know how hard it is to get into grad school and what my odds are.

Other grad schools I applied to:
Lehigh University
University of Delaware
University of Pennsylvania
Princeton University
Catholic University of America
Oxford University

I’d say you have a great chance of getting into most grad schools. The only problem is with the recent economic crisis, there are more and more people going back to school to improve their education. So even with incredible credentials you may not get in to the top tier schools. That being said, with the scores and GPR that you have shown, you have a good chance of getting into most grad schools.
