how is a Connors’ Patient Rating Scale Scored?
Step 1
The rater will circle a number on a scale of 0 to 3 based on if a behavior is never observed to frequently observed. The answers are transferred by carbon paper to a grid that categorizes behaviors that are characteristic of ADHD.
Step 2
Once the ratings are transferred to the grid on page two, write the circled numbers in the corresponding blank white areas within the same row. Total the numbers at the bottom of the columns.
Step 3
On page three of the CRS-R short form, the raw scores are converted to T-scores according to the profiling chart that is specific for the age and gender of the child being evaluated. The profile sheet indicates scales based on a normative sample of children within the age and gender group. The normative data were collected from more than 200 schools in 45 states and 10 provinces in the U.S. and Canada, and are provided separately for boys and girls, in 3-year age intervals. Information on ethnicity, sex, age, socioeconomic status, special populations, and geographic region is also reported in the scoring manual. http://downloads.mhs.com/crs/crs-r.pdf
Step 4
If the results indicate any outliers from the norm, the child that is being assessed is more likely to have issues with ADHD
